Vaccine fears brought measles back to New York. Parents who refused to vaccinate their children fostered the spread of a once-vanquished disease. Between October 2018 and July 2019, 649 people in NYC contracted measles, 49 of whom were hospitalized. The outbreak cost at least US$8.4 million.
