70,000 years ago, a nomadic star (Scholz's Star) came within a light-year of the Sun, flinging dozens of comets and asteroids out of the solar system. And in about a million years, another star named Gliese 710 will pass five times closer than Scholz's Star, likely kicking out millions of objects.
